Duck Inn

Laura Smith tells me she believes this cute house on the southwest corner of the lake was once called Duck Inn.

On the 28th of September I saw a couple of weeks ago I saw a couple hard at work on this pretty green-and-white house at sits at the southwest corner of the lake. I stopped to chat.with a woman named Cindy while her husband remained hard at work.

Cindy told me this wall which would seem to date from the 1930s had fallen. She and her husband are rebuilding it, using the original stones.

She showed me a block of concrete they found embedded in the wall:

Clearly, Ike and Betty laid the stone in 1947-- 64 years ago!

And yet as fair as I know, the yellow stone used in the wall was used only in the 1930s.

I love a mystery!
